Dear Slave,
I just got back from a congress in Greece.
I need to make sure that the /home/data/humangenetik data won't be
deleted as you stated below:
"otherwise we’ll have to run our scripts to delete oldest data"
I am right now deleting some of the data that is redundant within our
volume.
We are not informed of what will happen to the physical MUG storage
module. We will discus keeping it and maintain it internally by the MUG
IT personnel (internal long-time sequencing data solution) if it will
be disconnected from the cluster.
Will there be equivalent storage available on the isilon for our
/home/data/humangenetik data without additional costs?
I need to refer to the initial agreement with Human Genetics when we
were told something along the lines "the CEPH storage is endless (1.6
PB) and will be extended if needed by the IT" but the situation now
seems more like "CEPH storage will be completely taken away and you
will have nothing available without paying a yearly fee" which is not
what we initially and lately invested in.
Buying slow archive storage on the icilon of 350 TB (roughly what we
have now on CEPH; correct me if I am wrong) would cost us 35,000€ per
year (including backup according to Antrag auf
storage:
https://formular.medunigraz.at/form/provide/4006/) which is
completely out of proportion (that's what we paid initially for the
entire storage module; again, correct me if I am wrong).
I feel there is a strong need to discuss this MEdBioNode Storage
situation change to find a feasible solution for the Human Genetics as
we invested again in a new Cluster node recently.
Awaiting your response and BR,
Benjamin

Dear MedBioNode users,
since yesterday CEPH (/home/cluster and /home/data) is out of space
and no data can be stored there anymore. To keep this volume
operational you’ll need to remove unneeded/old data immediately,
otherwise we’ll have to run our scripts to delete oldest data
automatically.
I was already announcing that this year we’re moving to the new
Isilon storage system, so herewith from today we’re providing 4TB of
storage space for each user under /home/Isilon/users/o_xxxxxx. If you
need more space, each research group needs to take care for this by
contacting IT department and requesting certain amount of disk space.
Important: be advised to avoid coping/transferring huge data at once,
since this will not work and can lead to issues. Use rsync data
bandwith limitation (--bwlimit=KBPS) for this purpose.
Best regards,
Slave
